On Saturday I woke up with a pain in my left ear and I could not hear very well. Even my right ear was very blocked. So, I decided to go to the clinic downtown in Thongsala and get it checked out before anything serious might happen.
I was lucky because there were no other patients inside.
The doctor called me into his office and asked me about my symptoms and he looked inside my ears. He said I have a lot of wax inside and he can clean both ears for me.
So the nurse took me into the exam room and told me to lay on my side. She then dropped some drops into my left ear and left me sitting there for what seemed like 20 or 30 minutes. Then the doctor came in and began rinsing my left ear with warmed bottled water only. It took him about 30 minutes or so just to get the wax out. He did this for both ears but the right ear was not so bad. I can say now that I have never heard so good in many many years.
I noticed right away that higher pitched sounds were more clear to me and I am lucky; the doctor said I did not have any damage to my eardrum in my left ear but was inflamed. Everything is fine now and I can hear as well as a dog.
This whole thing cost me 1,200 baht which is around $30.00 usd
I do not know how much it will cost in the US but I am sure a lot more.
